Battle for the Light
Description
Battle for the Light is an adventure game I made as an assignment for Jesse Schell's Game Design class in Spring of 2009. The assignment was to create a game involving Dice.
The focus of this game was to go through a hexagon tiled map and complete a mission, not only using dice to move and attack, but also as characters themselves.
Made for two players. The game contained board printout, dice, instructions.
How it came to be
I designed this game not only using the dice to move around like most games, but I also wanted to give a character to the dice itself. Hence the dice became characters also in the game.
The game focuses and two players that use dice in order to build their characters (which are dice themselves) in order to defend the world from the darkness. The enemies they encounter in the board are dice as well, Defeating them gave them their powers (added their dice value into the mix). Once players cleared the board they could battle the keepers of the dark, if successful they would make the darkness go away, winning the game, if not they would succumb to the darkness.
The board I used was of Zelda: A link to the past, I just used it for basic layout, I designed the hexagon path on that scenario taking in account possible permutations with the dice (characters and enemies).
