Electropocalypse

Description

Electropocalypse was developed in the WildPockets 24 hour GameJam in 2008. I was part of Team Metatron with my friends: Rachel Phillips, Ben Miller, Deepak Murali and Camilo Garcia. the focus was to create a game using SimOps WildPockets browser 3D engine.

How it came to be

At the time being an experimental release of the engine, we as a team iterated in various designs such as top down cameras, 3/4 perspectives but we found out that being an experimental build it was limited. However, we took advantage of what makes WildPockets a success, which is Physics. We designed cooperatively and created an action shooter in which we used physics not only to control the AI but also the environment around our character.

For this project taking the role of sound designer for the most part apart from game design. I designed the sound for this game was to use our theme which was an apocalyptic future somewhere in space in order to set the tone, which was frantic and fast paced.

For this I utilized electronic music taking a piece by
Helix9 called Archetype, which is but intense and fast paced to match the intensity of the game. And sound effects matching with the theme which was space.

We won the
People’s Choice Awards for this game. You can still play it here.
Note: You can only play in Windows system machines. As WildPockets is only Windows compatible at the moment.
